Yuga has been cooking. Here's what's on the plate.

Yuga has been cooking. Here's what's on the plate.

After a month away from this blog, I'm back. Why leave for a month? Because I wanted to go explore Japan with my Dad, we do it every year, and honestly, it's one of the things I look forward to the most. It can be easy to focus on the wrong things. While I love my Bored Apes, love Yuga, and love all the awesome people I've met through this wild world of NFTs, family comes first. So there's your official reminder, when you finish reading this, if you can, call your Dad, call your Mom, plan a trip with them, spend more time with them this year than you did last year, I promise you won't regret it.

So now I'm back, refreshed, and playing some catch up, and holy moly, the Yuga Labs team has been cooking 🔥🔥🔥 If you don't think Yuga isn't one of the hardest working team out there, go away for a month and try to play catch up, it's wild!

With that, here's what Yuga has been up to over the last month.

ApeFest 2024 - Lisbon, October 18-20

Image

I was incredibly excited to see Lisbon was picked as the location for ApeFest 2024. After having a blast in Hong Kong last year it will be awesome to head to Europe and Lisbon is one of my favorite cities in the world, so double-bonus there.

What I think makes Lisbon such a great pick is how many other Web3 conferences take place there, it's becoming a real European hub for all things Web3 so really was the perfect choice for ApeFest.

Tickets are not available yet so be careful, if you see a tweet telling you to connect your wallet to get tickets, it's probably a scam.

Faraway acquires HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara

This was the big news from last week, and I think a major win for anyone that has assets in either of these Yuga ecosystems. Here's a bit more from the announcement tweet by Faraway:

Big news to share: Faraway is acquiring HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara. We’re incredibly excited to take this IP to new heights by building on the strong foundation that Yuga has created.

That starts by rewarding the community. Keep an eye on your metadata today. As a first order of business, we’re rolling out a new points system for HV-MTL and LoTM NFTs.
If you’re not already familiar with Faraway, we’re a veteran team of 100+ developers, designers, producers, and more, backed by Lightspeed, Sequoia, and a16z. Our mission has always been to create an ecosystem of interoperable games and economies that rewards players, and we approached Yuga a year ago to explore the use of their gaming IP.

Since then, we’ve been working closely to bring both Dookey Dash: Unclogged and the upcoming Legends of the Mara: Rise game to life, and we realized that there was tremendous growth potential for Yuga’s gaming IP with our resources.
As we take charge of HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara, our immediate goal is to drive as much utility as possible to the primary NFTs that make up these collections.

Our plan is to supplement new activations with interoperability across our network – you’ll get points for both.
HV-MTL Points:

- All HVs will be receiving a new metadata field called “HV-MTL Points.” Your HV’s Class, Companion, and Powerscore all play a role in determining your point baseline.

- The evolution to EVO-2, along with the consumed Amp + Rarity type will also have a meaningful effect on your point score.
Legends of the Mara Points:
- All Kodas and Kodamaras will be receiving a new metadata field called “LoTM Points.”

- The Otherside Koda collection will remain under the Yuga brand, but Kodas will still receive points. Point Baseline will be determined by Asset Type (e.g., Mega Y/N, Weapon Y/N, and Ability Type).

- For Kodamaras, Point Baseline will be determined by Role and Tier of the originating Mara, as well as the catalyst type and sediment used in fusion.
You’ll start to see points roll out soon for HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara – for now, the points metadata fields are marked with “???”.

Additional points will be earned through activations in the Faraway ecosystem, including Season 1 of Dookey Dash: Unclogged.

BAYC was everywhere at NFT NYC

It's safe to say that if you went to NFT NYC, and you owned an Ape, you had one heck of an experience. As you can see above, the team at Yuga really went above-and-beyond to make sure Apes had an extra-special time at NFT NYC.

Yuga at Token2049 and ArtsDao Fest in Dubia

Just like NFT NYC, if you're an ape, you end up getting to go to the coolest things at just about every major NFT event. With NFT NYC in the books, the Yuga team set their sights on Dubai and as you can see from above, they were absolutely cooking there, and still are with the last events taking place today!

Bored Meeting #3 - Tuesday, 4/23

Image

Yuga has done a great job of getting regular Bored Meetings rocking. This has been a really nice way to keep the community involved with everything Yuga is doing, and give everyone a voice to ask questions and learn together.

Phew, okay well I'm almost at 1,000 words so that's enough for now. Yuga has done even more than I listed above but these are some good highlights and pretty obvious proof that Yuga is cooking like it's going out of style right now.

As always, thanks for reading and remember these three words - Never Fade Yuga.
